Embossed Bottle

GreenBottle is a major packaging innovation with the potential to replace plastic bottles, glass bottles and laminated carton systems in the £multi-billion global liquid packaging market. Importantly, research and in-market experience confirm it is a business-building idea with strong consumer preference over conventional plastic bottles. The moulded paper technology has been developed to produce a premium quality finish which can be pressed into novel shapes and embossed, printed and/or coloured to give strong visual and tactile appeal and in particular excellent shelf standout. On top of this, it offers an environmentally superior solution over plastic bottles, laminated cartons and glass.

GreenBottle has all of the functionality of plastic bottles in terms of its production, supply chain and in-use characteristics but, because the bottle shell is made of compressed, recycled paper (with a thin inner plastic liner to hold the liquid, and a conventional plastic cap), it is significantly better for the environment, with less than a third of the plastic and a much smaller carbon footprint than comparable plastic bottles.

GreenBottles, by contrast, are made predominantly from paper with just a thin plastic liner to hold the liquid, and so have a significantly lower carbon footprint than either comparable plastic bottles or laminated cartons. GreenBottles are similarly superior on other measures of environmental impact.

GreenBottles can be moulded to almost any shape and so have the potential for use in most liquid product markets - milk/juice/drinks; liquid detergents/fabric softeners; soups and sauces; wines; even motor lubricants.

The product benefits of GreenBottle in a nutshell are:

  • Excellent shelf standout and strong visual and tactile appeal
  • GreenBottle is recyclable and the outer shell is biodegradable/compostable
  • The outer shell will be largely made of recycled material
  • Carbon footprint is significantly less than an equivalent plastic bottle
  • Uses less than one third of the plastic of a comparable plastic bottle
  • Easy for consumers to understand/use, and preferred over plastic bottles
