Marybelle Dairy
Marybelle is a business that was created out of necessity for the survival of the Pedigree herd of Holstein cows. The herd has been established for over 25 years and the past decade of continual declining price meant that a positive move had to be made to make the business of dairy farming profitable but most importantly provide the well deserved care of the 200 cows at the home farm. The name 'Marybelle' was one of the very first features of the new business to be developed. It is comprised of the two names of the most influential milk providers to Marybelle:
Telstar Mary is black and white which means her breed is Holstein. She was brought to the home farm over 18 years ago and was a very impressive cow producing thousands of liters of milk in her lifetime. She also had many calves while she was on the farm and now over 30% of the cows on the Home farm are from Mary's family line.
Duncan Belle lives in Canada and was recently voted by the industry as the cow of the Millennium for her achievements in milk production, show-ring domination and ability to transmit this potential to her offspring. Belle is the foundation cow to the group of Jerseys at the home farm providing milk to Marybelle and over 50% of the Jerseys in the new herd will be related to this great cow.
